What does legal aid consist of? |

Legal aid is financial assistance that allows legal procedural costs (registration fees, court and exemplified copy costs, bailiff's costs, etc.)
to be covered that are connected to the services of a lawyer if you do not have sufficient income.

Where can you get legal aid? |

Your lawyer will seek this from the Legal Aid Office at the Tribunal de première instance (First Instance Court)
(or Justice of the Peace) that has the territorial competent.

What are the criteria for granting legal aid? |

The conditions under which legal aid can be granted to you are connected to those specified for second level legal aid. The Court takes account of the level of the applicant's financial distress and need.
If your only income is from benefits, then it is a strong probability that you will get completely free legal aid.
